Meadow Springs Chimney

Ahhh, downhill! Time to shed the rest of the elevation I gained in the last two days.

Also over the last few days, I've been passing what looks like massive cairns, three-foot-tall piles of rocks, the remains of the people who lived here before it was declared a national park. Occasionally, whole chimneys still stand, defying the rot and erosion that has claimed their wooden surroundings. They look comically out of place in the middle of the woods.
